The quick version: Numi converts crypto to fiat with a live rate in the same line as any other math, which makes it a fast way to check “what’s my 0.4 BTC worth right now” without opening an exchange app. It doesn’t connect to a wallet, doesn’t track a portfolio automatically, and isn’t built for active trading. For that narrow but common question, it’s faster than anything else on macOS.

What it’s actually for

The recurring question isn’t usually “what’s the exact live Bitcoin price to the cent,” it’s “roughly what is this worth in dollars right now,” asked in the middle of some other task. “0.4 BTC in USD” answers that in the Numi app without switching to an exchange app, logging in, and navigating past a trading interface just to read one number.

Why it’s still worth using for this

The honest case for Numi here isn’t that it replaces a crypto tracking app, it’s that it removes the friction of a quick check. Opening a full exchange app to answer “what’s this worth today” is disproportionate to the question, the same way opening Excel to split a restaurant bill would be. For the fast, occasional conversion, it’s the right-sized tool; for anything involving real position tracking or trade execution, it was never meant to be more than a calculator.
